how this kind of RPG works? I'm trying to understand the you jump from topics from different locations and traveling, but I have a few questions like, is there an actual plot, if so is there anyone who controls the plot and if so who.

Plot for the whole RPG to contribute into? Every now-and-then. There's already been one. (Read the pinned topic called "Events")
Usually there are multiple plots. You can start a plot on your first post if you want to.
The person who started the plot usually controls it. But sometimes, things may go differently than you planned because of other members, but still have the same ending.
